Ryosuke Sakamoto
Actor
Japan
Biography:
Ryôsuke SAKAMOTO started his career at only 4 as a nihon buyô traditional dancer and became master of the Wakayagi school at 17. He made his acting debut at 18 in the TV show Ashita no Keiji and played in many TV shows.
In 1984, Ryôsuke SAKAMOTO already was a quite famous actor when he auditioned for the lead part in Bioman (Chôdenshi Bioman), for which he was chosen. It is a noteworthy series as the shooting was dotted with incidents and accidents. Ryôsuke SAKAMOTO broke his shoulder and arm during a motorcycle scene, which led to enrich his partners' parts. Hardly was he back on his feet when the point of fake plastic sword almost severed his carotid, an incident which could have been tragic.
Yet the success of Bioman increased his fame and got him one of the main roles in the musical Annie. Ryôsuke SAKAMOTO appeared as a guest star in episodes of tokusatsu series (special effects series) such as Special Rescue Exceedraft or Tokusou Robo Janperson.
He quit cinema in 1994 to take over the family printing business with his older brother but kept teaching traditional dance. He was back on the screens the same year in a few TV shows but mainly in stage productions.
Despite health problems in 2017, Ryôsuke SAKAMOTO keeps on acting to this day. Last November, he released a two-song CD, one of the songs being written by a friend of his and former sentai actor, Masaru SHISHIDO (Chôriki Sentai Ohranger).
