Biography:
Welcome to the world of FAKE TYPE.! One of the most exciting and dynamic duos in the Japanese music scene. Formed in 2013 by MC TOPHAMHAT-KYO and trackmaker DYES IWASAKI, the duo quickly gained a strong following with their pop and melodic tracks and razor-sharp lyrics.
Following three critically acclaimed albums, "FAKE BOX" (2014), "FAKE BOOK" (2015) and "FAKE WORLD" (2016), the duo took a hiatus to pursue other creative roads, with TOPHAMHAT-KYO'S 'princess??' and 'Mister Jewel Boxʼ each gaining over 30 million YouTube views.
The pair came thundering back to the scene with 2021's album "FAKE LAND", with the title track hitting a sweet spot with the TikTok generation and became one of the platform's hits the following year.
In 2021, the duo switched labels to Universal, and the first full album, "FAKE SWING" cemented their status as one of the premiere creative forces of the Electro Swing genre. The duo are increasing their presence as songwriters, with the track ʻFleeting Lullaby', sung by top J-Pop artist Ado, scoring a massive hit after its use as the ending theme for the feature anime film "One Piece Film RED".
2023 saw FAKE TYPE. expand its global reach with its first ever & sold-out show at the El Ray Theatre in Los Angeles, alongside fellow powerhouses DEMONDICE and TeddyLoid. In 2024, they were back to perform at Kami-Con in Alabama, Kawaii Kon 2024 in Hawaii.
The pair are also known to be a musical partner of multiple hit games, and the latest collaboration is with Zenless Zone Zero and the theme song "Zillion playerz feat. nqrse" reached 1 million views in just 1 month. This song will be included in the upcoming EP "Cats are dangerous" (October 9, 2024).
