News for Anime Festival Orlando 2007:
Matsuriza to perform at opening ceremonies for Anime Festival Orlando 8
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Orlando, FL (July 23, 2007) - Anime Festival Orlando 8 is excited to bring back Matsuriza to perform at this year's Opening Ceremonies. Matsuriza is a group of performers who play the Taiko Drums, an ancient celebration of music from Japan that began with religious ceremonies and branched out to battlefields and celebrations. Playing both traditional music and self-composed, this will be their 4th appearance at Anime Festival Orlando.
Matsuriza migrated from Sukeroku Daiko, a leading Taiko group in Japan. When they aren't onstage for AFO, they can be seen performing Taiko at the Japan pavilion at Walt Disney World's EPCOT Center. Each drum is hand made and range in size from 6 inches to six feet. Each performance is full of speed, power and choreography. Matsuriza has played in many countries for many different cultural events. Their performance brings an important element to Anime Festival Orlando in that it's an authentic piece of Japanese culture; the culture that is celebrated by fans throughout the weekend of the event.
